Editing/checking of an input Email Address at RidgeStar is made up of two general mechanisms. They are:
- Syntax validation
- Does the Email address appear in the proper format)?
The character string representing the Email address needs to be in the general format of {name}@{domain}.{tld} where {name} is the specific Users mailbox on the corresponding Mail Server, {domain} is the identity of the domain, and {tld} is one of the recognized and defined Top Level Domains (e.g. .COM, .NET, .ORG, etc.).
- Mail Server validation
- Is there an operational Mail Server associated with the Domain?
- Does the Mail Server system have a valid Reverse DNS entry/PTR defined?
