This Similar page exists simply to facilitate an experiment with multiple approaches to determining when two strings (e.g. Names) are similar to each other.

• The Similar_Text column contains the {percentage} of characters that are shared between Name1 and Name2
• The Levenshtein column contains the computed distance between the two strings (the minimal number of characters you have to replace, insert or delete to transform Name1 into Name2)
• The Soundex column contains the soundex(Name1)-soundex(Name2)
• The Metaphone column contains the metaphone(Name1)-metaphone(Name2)
• The Similar(Metaphone) column contains the {percentage} of characters that are shared between metaphone(Name1) and metaphone(Name2)
• The ? column contains an indication that the relation between Name1 and Name2 passes both the Similar_Text (60) and Levenshtein (6) tests
