Overview

What is the Position Assignment Method?
The PositionPosition Assignment MethodMethod establishes the process that will be used to fill a requested Position for a Match. There is a Method associated with each Position for each MatchMatch (meaning, the Method can differ from Position to Position and Match to Match)
Why use the Concept?
The Method permits a great deal of flexibility to the ChapterChapter to control which Positions will be filled and what process the SiteSite should use to fill the Assignment.
How is the concept implemented?
Each Position has a Method associated with it for each Match defined in the Database. The Method can be any of the following values:
None The Position has not been requested by the OrganizationOrganization and will not be filled by the Site
Manual The Position will be manually assigned through a direct action of an authorized Assignor. The Position is NOT eligible for SelfAssign
SelfAssign The Position is eligible for SelfAssign to any RefereeReferee that passes the applicable Rules. Of course, an AssignorAssignor can manually assign a Referee also.

Comments

The AdministratorAdministrator sets the position characteristics for each Position on each Match. The following image presents a single Match that demonstrates all three Methods. The Referee and Assessor position for Match #5 are going to be manually assigned by an Assignor, there will be no 4th Official, and the two AR positions are available for SelfAssignSelfAssign to properly qualified Referees.

Method concept

Note that in some Chapters, the Assignors themselves may be authorized to set the Position Method. In other Chapters, the client Organizations themselves may be authorized to do so. Regardless of who actually sets the Method, the Site will respond accordingly.
