Manual: Usage-Pop Ups

An Interactive Site uses pop ups to share extra information that can help you to better understand and utilize the Site. To determine if your browser supports pop ups, move your mouse over the top of the small gray question mark to the right of this Term and pause. If text appears (Definition for Term?), your browser supports pop ups!

Note that if you are accessing the site from a Device (e.g. many Mobile devices) and you lack a "mouse" the pop up hints may not appear, completely dependent upon your Mobile Device's implementation.

Here's how we use pop ups on RidgeStar Interactive Sites.

Hyperlinks

For hyperlinked text (i.e. hot, clickable), pop ups indicate the type of information the hyperlink provides. For example, if you move your mouse over the Usage-Pop Ups hyperlink in the Table of Contents (left side of your screen), a Pop Up "question" appears that is addressed by this page.

Graphics and Symbols

You can also move your mouse over hyperlinked Graphics and Symbols to view pop up information. For example, pop ups appear when you move your mouse over the RidgeStar

Logo (upper left corner of the screen) or over the primary Segment

Names in the Table of Contents (left side of the screen).

Page Areas

Many elements within the page also provide pop up information. For example, moving your mouse over the "Pop ups" page title (very top of the screen) displays a pop up that describes this page's contents.

Input Forms

When needed, input forms on Interactive Sites display pop ups that describe the type of information you should enter in the blanks. For example, move your mouse over the top of the following input elements in the following form and pause:

While there are many possibilities for the sort of popup values you may see in the various forms, the following popup values are commonly available in the various Criteria areas spread throughout the site:

Text: Simply type whatever static character based information that is appropriate, given the form's context within the site.
Date?: Enter a character string that represents a Calendar Date in an acceptable standard Date format
Date Comparator?: When the popup indicates or includes the word "Comparator" you can enter a variety of formats that represent a Date (and optional Time)
Fragment?: An input field identified as a "Fragment" permits you specify only a subset of characters or a pattern to match the related element.
Specific value(s)?: Permits you to enter a Key Specification to locate specific list entries
Regular Expression?: Same as "Fragment"
